Farm Produce at Amelia Trust Farm
We
currently have around 100 free range hens with plenty of space to strut
their stuff. Free range eggs are on sale daily in the Trust visitor
centre, why not try them boiled or scrambled on toast!
During
winter months you will come face to face with the Trust cattle, housed in a
barn just off the main red brick yard, we are establishing a herd of
Hereford cattle who share the Trust with a various other breeds; Highland, Limousin, Jersey
and Simmental.
We
have a number of different breeds of pigs at the Trust, Gloucester Old Spot,
Welsh white, Saddle back and Berkshire. With a breeding programme in
place the Trust sells various pork and bacon products direct to the public,
all available at our visitor centre.
We
also run a commercial flock of 50 sheep, breeds of ewes include Jacob,
Swaledale, Welsh Mountain and Ryeland.’ The flock consists of predominantly
Lleyn ewes but also includes Jacob, Swaledale, Welsh Mountain, Clun, Ryeland. All these are put to a Lleyn
ram which is a prime meat breed, with ewes lambing in and around the Easter
holidays. The Trust lamb is renowned for being very tender and tasty.
Please contact general@ameliatrust.org.uk for information on lamb, pork and bacon.
