Group visits to Amelia Trust Farm
The Amelia Trust Farm have a team of staff, and a wonderful group of volunteers who give up their time and are committed to make the Amelia Trust Farm a place to be proud of. The volunteers work in all areas of the farm, coffee shop, gardens, animals and outside projects.
Members of the public are welcome to visit us any day, we are open with the daylight. The site is wheelchair accessible on the main paths.
If you are planning to bring a group we would recommend that you make a pre visit yourself in order to familiarise yourself with the site and double check that our facilities are suitable for your needs. On arrival please book in at the Farm Office.
Animals
Please respect the animals when visiting the indoor animal shelter, small groups of 10 would be advisable as new born piglets or lambs need peace and quiet as noise can unsettle them and their mothers.
No feeding of animals and poultry is permitted, as all animals and birds are on a balanced diet. This also includes feeding grass: grass should not be fed to any animal as it encourages them to eat from a humans hand and the animal can turn aggressive. Responsible adults should discourage visitors from eating near animals.
There can be a risk of infection from any animal, therefore touching of animals is not allowed. Before eating any food we advise you wash your hands thoroughly at the sinks provide at the toilet block.
Farm Staff
The farm staff are happy to answer any questions during your visit, but please note that staff work with young people as an alternative form of education, the farm is an outdoor classroom.

When visiting the farm it is important to understand a few of our charitable objectives. Amelia Trust is a working farm which means that the livestock will often be found in different locations depending on the time of year. It may not be possible for you to get close or touch some of the animals as we are held responsible by working farm legislation. You will have access to many areas of the farm including the many wonderful woodland walks so please follow the countryside code by closing gates and taking any litter home with you.
The farms main function is to support and educate vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. Our young people are involved in all areas of the agricultural setting so you will often see them around site. Our Young Person Assistants have achieved a level of knowledge in which allows them to work independently but they are still learning so please be patient with them after all you were a student once.
As a small charity we employ 12 members of staff, however the continuing service to the public and the up keep of the site requires so much more and we just couldn’t keep doing what we do with out our loyal band of volunteers. We do not charge individual members of the public visiting or parking at the farm; however we do not receive any core funding so we encourage all visitors to put a donation in the boxes on site to help us manage and maintain the facilities.
A small charge is made for groups of more than 12 people. Groups are required to book in advance
Thank you for your interest in Amelia Trust Farm and we hope you enjoy your visit.
