Working with us at Amelia Trust Farm
“I
retired a year ago and wanted to contribute to an organisation working with
young people. I currently volunteer at the Trust 1-2 days a week working on
a new walkway and sitting area. Over the past 12 months I have cleared and
cut back 100metres of scrub and hedge line. Although I occasionally work
with staff and young people, this volunteering experience gives me the
opportunity to work in a beautiful and peaceful environment, its me and
woodland!”
“I work Monday to Friday,
9-5pm every week and wanted to get out and about on the weekends. I
currently volunteer at the Trust on a Saturday, helping with the animals,
this involves feeding, mucking out, cleaning and working with a fantastic
team of people. It gives me an opportunity to learn new skills and get my
hands dirty!”
The Trust could not continue its current work without the help of volunteers, volunteers form the backbone of what the Trust stands for and outworks on a daily basis. We try and ensure that everyone benefits from volunteering by gaining new skills, increased confidence, whilst having an enjoyable time, contributing to the development of the Trust.
There are a number of different volunteer opportunities available at the Farm, they include:
| Woodland work | Conservation tasks | Gardening |
| Animal husbandry | Farm work | General Maintenance |
| Visitor Centre work |
If these interest you, please complete and return a volunteer application form, the Trust will then contact you and arrange an informal interview. This will allow you to see if we are right for you and vice versa. Generally, people work for one or two days a week and only in exceptional circumstances go above this figure.
Volunteers and placements will be assigned various tasks, depending on Trust
priorities, people’s interests etc. Full guidance or instruction will be
provided for any task you carry out.
