Vanessa Hall Animal Care Supervisor Expand 'Hi there, I'm Vanessa and I'm an Animal Care Supervisor at the Farm. You'll generally find me with the ponies and donkeys, as I'm currently studying for an HND in Equine Studies. Next year, I'm attending Coleg Sir Gar in Carmarthen, for my BSc in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. Fun Fact - My grandparents took me to a Gymkhana when I was three years old, and whilst on a pony ride, the pony bolted with me! The staff finally caught up with the pony, with me still on board... and I’ve had an affinity for them ever since!
Mike Davies GROW Team Leader & Safeguarding Lead Expand I started my path into education in 2005 as a youth worker for a youth provision in Cathays. Since then I have spent time teaching English in South Korea and I also worked in Special Education in New Hampshire, USA. I have recently returned to the UK and found the perfect position for me – GROW Team Leader at Amelia Trust Farm. I am excited to take on this new role working with the young people and the animals. Fun Facts – I speak a fair amount of Korean and I recently started open water swimming at Barry island.
Gabriella Gardner Marketing and Fundraising Officer Expand Hi, I’m Gabriella! I started working at the Farm in March 2020 as the Marketing and Fundraising Officer. I had worked in the Media Industry for the past six years but felt ready for a new challenge within a new sector and thought the Farm would be the perfect fit for me – I was right and I love it here! Fun facts – two of my main hobbies are singing and playing the harp! I love socialising and road trips, especially if it’s a trip to the beach! I have a dog named Billy who I rescued from a dogs home in Spain and a cat called Felix who is eighteen years old. I'm also a fluent Welsh speaker and love anything Wales related!
Caitlin Healy Animal Care Supervisor Expand Hi, I'm Caitlin! I'm one of the Animal Care Supervisors at the Farm. I have a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and for my dissertation I hatched my own poultry and water fowl looking at the effects of imprinting! I love the animals at the Farm and cannot wait for new adventures to come. Fun fact - I love travelling and have worked with elephants and turtles in Thailand and orangutans and turtles in Borneo.
Bethan Goodwin Animal Care Supervisor Expand Hi I'm Beth I'm an animal care supervisor at the farm. I started at the farm in 2012 as a shy and quiet college student. The farm gave me confidence and the ability to be who I am today. Fun fact: I'm obsessed with elephants, everything in my house is elephant themed i even have elephant wallpaper!
Karen Turnbull Director Expand Karen joined the Farm as Director on 27 April 2015 after 20 years in the university sector in South Wales as a senior leader responsible for generating income, building links with external partners and supporting students to develop skills for the workplace. With a degree in Accountancy and a Masters in Business Administration, she has extensive experience of financial management, strategic development and marketing. In addition, she has worked for small companies in Cardiff, London and Sydney, Australia as a team leader focussed on delivering excellent customer service. Karen has also served as Director for the Gwent Independent Film Trust and for Newport and Gwent Enterprise and was selected through the Welsh Government’s Public Appointments Process to be a specialist advisor to the All Wales Programme Monitoring Committee for the European Structural Funds in Wales for the period 2007-2015. When she married the Reverend Stewart Lisk in 1997 she decided to retain the use of her maiden name. They have two daughters and live in Roath, Cardiff. Karen has been actively involved in fundraising for the Church both in the parishes of Ely and in Roath and also leads the Sunday School team of volunteers. To relax, Karen enjoys fitness classes at the gym and yoga studio, watching rugby and camping in the Great British countryside.
Jack Evans Animal Care Supervisor Expand Hi, I'm Jack! I'm one of the Animal Care Supervisors at the Farm. I first came to the Farm in 2015 for work experience, fell in love with the place and never left! I'm now studying at Bristol Vet School but come back to the Farm as much as possible - I'd miss the animals way too much if I didn't! Fun fact - outside of work and University, my English Bull Terrier puppy Rio keeps me busy! He's only a baby but weight 20KG so is a bit of a handful!
