Referral process Referrals are usually made from the South Wales area - Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff and Vale, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr and Blaenau Gwent from the following organisations: Schools and Pupils Referral Units (PRU)Schools and PRUs identify learners that are at risk of temporary or permanent exclusion.This may be due to issues that have happened in or out of the school environment but theneed for additional support has been acknowledged. The learner’s attendance as a resultof these difficulties can diminish which may lead to legal action being enforced. The Farmsetting offers a more relaxed nurturing environment with a high level of pastoral support.The vocational programme of activities help to settle the learner into the project, whilstencouraging them to change their perception of learning, therefore supporting theiracademic achievement in school. Social Services / Youth Offending Services / Independent Foster Care ServicesThese services focus referral towards the young person’s development of behavioural, emotional and social skills. This growth enables anindividual to be better equipped when regaining control of their lives. Referrers have commented that the increased confidence andmotivation in young people makes them more willing to re-engage with school or alternative education providers.
